Authentic Happiness: Using the New Positive Psychology to Realize Your Potential for Lasting Fulfillment

This book is an essential read for any student of happiness. It is written by a pioneer in the field of ‘positive psychology’, Professor Martin Seligman. Focusing on “the empirical study of such things as positive emotions, strengths-based character, and healthy institutions”, Seligman defines and then provides a way to achieve authentic happiness by giving the reader tools on how to discover and act upon your most positive traits and strengths. And by accentuating and nurturing positive emotions and traits on a daily basis, you not only expel negative emotions and misfortunes from your life, but also create and achieve new levels of “authentic contentment, gratification, and meaning”.  These lessons can be used to achieve personal individual satisfaction, but also can be used by leaders to help implement a positive, learning, and collaborative work environment that is both engaging and productivity.
