Day 14 Goods for a Cause: Patagonia

Got Gear?  Patagonia does.  The socially responsible way.  Patagonia has been a crusader in corporate social responsibility–they were out in front of this movement before other companies were and have been leading the way.

Their outdoor gear is just the best.  And you don’t have to be a sportsman to appreciate it!  Patagonia is: “Dedicated to promoting Fair Labor and Environmental protection where Patagonia products are made.”  I have been privileged to witness this first hand;  I  have had Patagonia staff in my classes and have consulted with their team.  They walk the talk.

At Patagonia, a love of wild and beautiful places permeates everything they do.  When you walk into their corporate office just minutes from the best surfing beach in Ventura, you can’t help but notice the surf board rack in the doorway.  And when the surf is up, the staff are on the waves!  Their passion for outdoor activities makes Patagoniacs, as they call themselves, fierce advocates for the environment.  Patagoniacs  donate  time, services and at least 1% of sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups all over the world who work to help reverse the tide.  They vigilantly work to reduce their carbon footprint.  This is not talk.  You can trace the footprint of any product you buy on their website.
